Zachary Bliss has a Bachelor of Commerce (2015) from MacEwan University and a Juris Doctor (2021) from the University of Alberta. He is Metis from Northern Alberta and has lived in Edmonton since 2014.
Mr. Bliss was called to the Alberta bar in 2022 and has experience with professional regulatory, administrative, and environmental law. While at the University of Alberta, he co-authored a paper in the Journal of International Wildlife Law and Policy with Professor Cameron Jefferies and two other colleagues and placed second in the Canadian Client Consultation Competition.
Prior to completing his law degree, Mr. Bliss worked as an Indigenous Intern for the Government of Alberta where he worked on creating the Indigenous Cultural Understanding Framework for Children’s Services and delivered the KAIROS Blanket Exercise to over 500 Government of Alberta employees and stakeholders. He was also fortunate to be able to work with the team that engaged with 60s Scoop Survivors across the province to help inform Premier’s apology.

Field LLP, Edmonton - Worked as an Articling Student and Associate with this regional firm with a focus on insurance, labour & employment, and regulatory law from 2022 – 2024
Government of alberta, ministry of children’s services Edmonton - Worked as a Cultural Education Intern where I delivered the KAIROS Blanket Exercise to Government of Alberta employees and external stakeholders and consulted with 60s Scoop survivors across Alberta to inform the Premier’s apology. Worked in this capacity from 2017-2018
